Video Footage Of
Your Skiing

One of the core features of all Inside Out Skiing coaching clinics indoors and on our alpine coaching holidays is our use of video analysis which is done every time you ski with us.

Video analysis is typically thought of as a tool for developing high performance athletes or for gaining an in-depth understanding of biomechanics. However, Inside Out Skiing believe that it is an invaluable teaching tool that can transform the development of all levels of skier.

Personal Video Library

Every single piece of footage we shoot of you is in a personal online video library which you can access and download at any time. We have over 10 years of client video and as far as we know we are the only ski school offering this.

We use high-definition camcorders with long zoom lens and image stabilision to ensure high quality video footage in which the skier largely fills the frame and do review on high specification laptops that allow slow motion and freeze frame review. There is little point in footage taken from smartphones or fixed lens cameras as mostly the skier is just a small dot in the distance so it is impossible to analyse movements or stance.

Video Analysis

Video analysis is used to examine performance, provide a record of what is working well, highlight aspects which need development and on the rare occasion work out why things went a little pear-shaped.

We video your skiing from the front, from the side, and from the rear to ensure we have the best perspective on your movements. Feedback and analysis is done later the same day with your Inside Out coach (although sometimes everyone else chips in as well!). Feedback is done one-on-one or with the other members of your coaching group, using a laptop computer or TV.

Video review and analysis provides that accurate understanding, providing the opportunity to examine your skiing at normal pace, slow motion and even frame-by-frame. Although for some skiers the whole notion of being videoed and then having performance reviewed sounds stressful, feedback sessions are typically light-hearted opportunities to highlight good aspects of performance and identify aspects which need development.
